The Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay is awarded to the person(s) who drafts and finalises the most proper screenplay (script incorporating the film’s story, sequence of scenes and acting directions) according to the story relating to a Hindi film released in the preceding year. It was introduced by Filmfare in its annual Filmfare Awards in 1969.

Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay at 61st Filmfare Awards
The 61st edition of Filmfare Awards held in January 2016, recognised Juhi Chaturvedi for the screenplay of the film ‘Piku’ with the Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay. She is also the writer behind the story of the film ‘Piku’, which won 4 awards in addition to Best Screenplay, including Best Actress and Critics’ Choice Best Film and Actor.
