The states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Goa are located in the western part of India. West India has several mountain peaks existing as a part of its geographical terrain. They have not only beautified the states in West India, but have also contributed in making this region a tourist destination of India.
Mountain Peaks of Gujarat
The state of Gujarat is adorned with a number of mountain peaks. Girnar is known to be highest mountain of Gujarat, with a height of about 2,004 ft (611 m). The other mountain peaks of Gujarat are Gorakhnath (1,649 ft / 503 m), Venu (1,641 ft / 500 m) and Nandivela (1,173 ft / 358 m).
Mountain Peaks of Rajasthan
The state of Rajasthan has several mountain peaks. Guru Sikhar is the highest mountain in Rajasthan, with a height of about 4,944 ft (1,507 m). Its other mountain peaks are Sunaril (2,116 ft / 645 m), Nehara Pahar (1,690 ft / 515 m), Modiya Pahar (1,463 ft / 446 m), Gir Bhakar (1,430 ft / 436 m), Rasora ka Pahar (1,293 ft / 394 m), Aguna Dhora (985 ft / 300 m) and Faitut Ka Dhora (971 ft / 296 m).
Mountain Peaks of Maharashtra
Kalsubai (1,646m) is regarded as the highest point of Maharashtra. It belongs to Kalsubai Mountain Range. Other mountain peaks of Maharashtra are Salher (1,567m), Dhodap (1472m), Taramati (1,431m), Saptashrungi (1,264m), Torna (1,403m), Purandar (1,387m), Mangi-Tungi (1,331m), Rajgad (1,318m), Sinhagad (1,312m), Ratangad (1,297m), Brahmagiri (1,295m), Anjaneri (1,280m), Pratapgad (1,080m) and Raigad (820m).
Mountain Peaks of Goa
The state of Goa which is popular for its water bodies and beaches has Sonsogor mountain peak (also called Sonsogodd, Darsingha or Darsinga) as its highest point. It has an elevation of about 1,166 meters above sea level and belongs to the Western Ghats. Sonsogor is open to hiking.
