Temples of Hanumangarh District

Temples of Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan, has served as significant pilgrimage sites since ancient times. Shri Gogaji Temple
Shri Gogaji temple is situated at a distance of 120 kilometres from the city of Hanumangarh and is dedicated to Shri Gogaji. Shri Gogaji was a spiritual guru and a famed warrior belonging to Rajput dynasty of Chauhans. He is also revered as the `god of snakes`. The temple is about 950 years old and is visited by the devotees and pilgrims belonging to all religions. The temple is an exemplary of communal harmony as it has one Hindu and one Muslim priest. The temple architecture also exhibits an amalgamation of Hindu and Islamic styles of architecture. The temple hosts a one month grand fair every year from the Purnima of Shraavana to the Purnima of Bhadrapad.

Mata Bhadrakali Temple
Mata Bhadrakali temple is another ancient temple situated near Amarpura village at the bank of Ghaggar River. The temple was built by Maharaja Ram Singh, the sixth emperor of Bikaner, on the desire of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Mata Bhadrakali is the presiding deity of the temple and is mainly worshipped by the Shakti sect of Hinduism. The temple hosts a huge fair on the 8th and 9th day of Chaitra month which allures a large number of pilgrims and tourists from different regions.

Brahmani Temple
Brahmani temple is located in Pallu village of the district. It stands on the ruins of the ancient Kalloor Fort. The temple is considered as a highly esteemed religious site. The temple celebrates Mata Brahmani Mela every year during Navaratri.

Sila-Mata Temple
Sila-Mata temple, situated in Hanumangarh city, is an excellent testament of communal harmony. The idol of the temple is worshipped by the devotees belonging to Hindu, Muslim and Sikh religion. The stone enshrined in the temple is worshipped by the Hindus as Sila Mata and by the Muslims as Sila Peer. According to the local beliefs, water and milk offered to the deity possesses the property of healing skin diseases on application. The temple gathers a sea of devotees in the weekly fairs held in the temple every Thursday.
