Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple is located in Parippally, Kollam in the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the most important pilgrimage centres of the town dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, a form of Goddess Durga. Other deities like Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Navagrahangal are also installed in the temple.
Festivals of Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple
Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple celebrates several festivals on a grand scale. Every year the temple organises the mahotsavam during the month of March for ten days. The festival commences with the pongala. Devotees especially from Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram and other parts of the country flock the temple during the festive season. An elephant procession known as Gajamela is organised on the ninth day of the festival. It forms the main attraction of the mahotsavam. People belonging to different castes partake in the activities of this grand festival.
Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple is maintained by the Ezhavas community. Navaratri is also celebrated by the temple authorities on a grand scale.
