Airports in Tamil Nadu have been established to connect this state with other parts of India and the world via airways.

Airports in Tamil NaduThe state of Tamil Nadu is located in the southernmost part of the Indian Peninsula. This state has religious sites like Hindu temples of Tamil architecture, hill stations, beach resorts, multi-religious pilgrimage sites and eight world heritage sites. They have not only beautified this state but have also made Tamil Nadu one of the famous tourist destinations in India. To reach Tamil Nadu, domestic as well as international airports have been established in the state.

Chennai International Airport
Chennai International Airport is located in Chennai. This public airport is owned by the Airports Authority of India and links Chennai Metropolitan Area to other parts of India and the world. It became the first airport in India to have international and domestic terminals located adjacent to each other. The airport is well equipped with 70 parking bays, one of which can accommodate the super-jumbo Airbus A380.

Madurai Airport

Coimbatore International Airport
Coimbatore International Airport is situated in Coimbatore. This public airport is owned by the Government of India and operated by the Airports Authority of India. It serves the Coimbatore Metropolitan Area. The runway of this airport is 9,760 feet (2,970 m) in length. This airport has been provided with aero bridges, parking bays, instrument landing system, new domestic and international divisions, a parking management system and two hangars.

Tuticorin Airport
Tuticorin Airport is situated in Vagaikullam. This public airport connects the districts of Tuticorin and Tirunelveli to other parts of India. It has a terminal building which can accommodate 72 passengers during peak hours and had one asphalt runway. Its apron can accommodate 2 ATR 72 or similar aircrafts at a time. This airport is also equipped with navigational aids.

Vellore Airport
Vellore Airport is located in Vellore and connects it to other parts of India. This public airport is owned and operated by the Airports Authority of India. This airport occupies an area of about 51.5 acres.

INS Parundu
INS Parundu is located near Uchipuli in Ramanathapuram district. It is an Indian naval air station operated by the Indian Navy. The Naval Air Squadrons (INAS) at INS Parundu operate HAL Chetak helicopters, Islander and Dornier Do 228 reconnaissance aircraft.
