Early Life of Ranveer Singh Born on 6th July, 1985 in Mumbai to Jagjit Singh Bhavnani and Anju Bhavnani, Ranveer has an elder sister named Ritika. He is the maternal cousin of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and film producer Rhea Kapoor, daughters of famed actor Anil Kapoor. Having aspired to be an actor throughout his childhood, he performed in school plays and debates. Later, after joining junior college at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai, he realized the difficulties and obstacles of pursuing a career in Bollywood and the idea being "too far-fetched", he started diverting himself towards his second passion, creative writing. He moved to the United States to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, where he simultaneously took acting classes. The classes revived his dream of being an actor and he took up theatre as his minor. He returned to Mumbai in 2007 and worked as a copywriter for a few years with advertising agencies. He later worked as an assistant director before solely pursuing a career in acting. He attended all kinds of auditions and sent his portfolio across to different directors but was only being offered minor roles, while being determined to start his career with a lead role in mainstream Hindi cinema. Career of Ranveer Singh In January 2010, Ranveer got a call from the head of the casting division of Yash Raj Films, for an audition for the lead role of Bittoo Sharma in their upcoming romantic comedy titled ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, set in the world of wedding planning. Seeing the audition tapes and impressed with his acting, the producer was convinced Ranveer fits the part. Describing the character as a typical Delhi boy, Ranveer spent time in the Delhi University campus interacting with the students, to develop a better understanding and essence of his character. After the release, the movie became a commercial and critical success.
