![]() History of Umhang Lake According to the history, the Umhang Lake was formed by the Chieftain U Sajar Nangli and his followers. They are also said to have created the Thadlaskein Lake. Once, the Cheiftain along with followers visited the place where the Umhang Lake is now situated. They all dined together on this spot. They found that the water of that small spring was wholesome and were very pleased with the place and the quality of water. They thus decided to stay back there and created the largest and brightest inland inside the kingdom of Jaintia. The Umhang Lake was thus created. Flora of Umhang Lake The banks of the Umhang Lake are bedecked and surrounded by dense green forest.
