Most of the Bollywood marriages were successful, despite the fact that there are some celebrity couples who have had unfortunate conclusion to their marriage. The Bollywood weddings are alike the weddings of royal households. Filled with the glamour and festivity, these weddings take place for a shorter period of time due to the tight schedules of the celebs. After doing only one film (Swades) Gayatri Joshi got married to builder Vikas Oberoi. Chitrangada Singh who was seen in offbeat movies like Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi and Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow, married golfer Jyoti Randhawa. Director Vinta Nanda with her debut film as White Noise married childhood friend Anil Bahugana - a naval officer. Actress Namrata Shirodkar married to south superstar Mahesh Babu. Zayed Khan got married with pomp and style with his long time girlfriend Malaika Parekh. His cousin Fardeen Khan married Natassha Madhwani, daughter of the veteran actress Mumtaz.

These celebrity couples often meet on sets, during production works, sometimes through relatives or at times in celebrity gatherings. The biggest advantage of such celebrity marriages are enjoyed by their off springs. The children grow up enjoying a grand treatment from their surroundings. However, there has been a long-standing argument with the fact that such kinds of marriages tend to terminate the wife`s future in films. Results seem to vary. On one ground, Dimple Kapadia is still a gorgeous actress, while Jaya Bachchan left her radiant career on the peak of success just to devote herself to family chores. Kajol returned to films after a long period, as Madhuri Dixit. Karisma Kapoor is also intermittently seen on screen.

The Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai wedding is one of the best examples of starry marriages in the past. Marriages between stars of tinsel town happen when they are paired in several films, fall in love and often tie the knot. Once Dev Anand proposed marriage to the popular actress Suraiya, a few years older than him and they planned to elope. But Suraiya developed cold feet in the last minute and finally remained single throughout her life. Dev Anand met and married Kalpana Kartik later. Prem Nath married Bina Rai amidst great fanfare and loud music. Bina Rai gave up films after marriage.

Shammi Kapoor married Geeta Bali who was older, but the marriage turned out to be happy until Geeta Bali suddenly died of small pox. Raj Kapoor`s son Randhir Kapoor married actress Babita, but this marriage turned out to be a sour relationship. His younger brother Rishi Kapoor married Neetu Singh and then Neetu left films.

Raj Babbar started to live together with Smita Patil, after Smita died, he promptly went back to his first wife Nadira and the children. Hema Malini married Dharmendra, who was already married and had two daughters, Esha and Ahana. Meanwhile, the romantic singles of the industry include the eternally eligible Salman Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, Sushmita Sen and many other who continue to hog the gossip headlines with their real or imaginary relationships in the film industry.
