Sushmita Sen, Bollywood ActressSushmita Sen came into limelight when she was crowned the Miss Universe in 1994, thus becoming the first Indian woman to win the competition. Sushmita Sen was born in Hyderabad on 19th November 1975 to father Shubeer Sen, a retired officer at Indian Air force and mother Subhra Sen, a fashion artist and jewellery designer. She has one brother, Rajeev Sen, and a sister, Neelam Sen. Sen studied at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute and Air Force Silver School in New Delhi. She studied English and also holds a degree in journalism. Sushmita`s mother tongue is Bengali language. In 2000, she adopted a girl child Renee and in 2010 she again adopted a girl called Alisah.

Career of Sushmita Sen
With an advantageous height, Sen made her entry into the world of fashion. She did a few fashion shows before she went in for the Femina Miss India pageant. She won against Aishwarya Rai with a tie-breaking question. From there she went off to Philippines to represent India at the Miss Universe Pageant and won there.

After her win, Sushmita entered the Indian film industry and made her debut in "Dastak" in the role of a vulnerable girl being stalked by a psycho but it did not do well at the box office. Her next movie Ratchagan, a Tamil movie was a huge hit. Two years later she made her appearance in a comic role in David Dhawan`s Biwi No.1. She was seen in a very realistic role in Meghna Gulzar`s directorial debut film `Filhaal` and has got very rave reviews for her convincing portrayal of the character in the film. The movie Main Hoon Na has been Sushmita`s biggest hit in the year 2004, in which she starred as Shah Rukh Khan`s love interest. Later on, she played a lawyer in Main Aisa Hi Hoon opposite Ajay Devgan. In 2005, she also starred in the remake of Cactus Flower, called Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya opposite Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif and essayed the role of Ingrid Bergman. Her most recent movies include Karma, Confessions and Holi (2006) opposite Naomi Campbell, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (2006) and Dulha Mil Gaya (2006) opposite Shahrukh Khan.

Personal Life of Sushmita Sen
Sushmita Sen was born on 19 November 1975 in the Bengali Sen family in Hyderabad, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Her family consists of her dad, Shubeer, a former Indian Air Force Wing Commander; mom, Subhra, Jewellery Designer and owner of a Dubai-based store. She has two siblings, a sister named Neelam, who is married to Nauman Malik, and a brother named Rajeev.

She is often regarded as most glamorous and stylish, and made history by adopting a baby girl named Renee. In 2000 she, as a single woman of only 25 years of age, was not viewed as socially acceptable to obtain the guardianship of the baby. However, the High Court of India quashed the appeal and she obtained gain of cause. On 13 Jan, 2010 she adopted a three-month-old girl and named her Alisah.
