Mithun Chakraborty, Indian Movie ActorMithun Chakraborty is an Indian movie actor of 80"s, one of the prominent actors of his time. The performance of Mithun Chakraborty in "Disco Dancer" and "Dance Dance" made him an instant hit as a break dancer. The actor ruled the industry for a decade. He has acted in more than 200 Bollywood films, including some of the Bengali and Bhojpuri films as well. He also joined All India Trinamool Congress, and was nominated as Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha but later resigned in 2016.

Early Life of Mithun Chakraborty
Mithun Chakraborty was born on 16 June 1947 in Barisal which is now in Bangladesh. His real name is Gouranga Chakraborty. He was educated at the Scottish Church College, Kolkata, West Bengal and then graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Mithun was a Naxalite before entering the film industry. He returned to his family and left the Naxalite fold, at the news of his only brother"s death by an accident. Mithun has also undergone expert training in martial arts.

Mithun Chakraborty worked in his debut film with Mrinal Sen in 1976 named "Mrigaya" which won him accolades and he got the National Film Award for Best Actor. After his debut he played some supporting roles in films such as "Do Anjaane" and "Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan". After that he played the lead roles in early 1980s films such as "Hum Paanch" and "Wardaat". His breakthrough role finally came in the musical drama "Disco Dancer" in 1982 which was a huge success. The next hit was "Gunda" and this film was followed by other musical films such as "Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki" in 1984 and "Dance Dance" in 1987. All these films showcased him as a talented dancer. He starred in many successful romantic and family drama films during this period. These films remain his most commercially successful films to date.

In the late 1990s he took a break from acting and relocated to Ooty where he set up some businesses. He made a comeback to the mainstream Hindi film industry in 2005 with films like "Elaan", "Lucky: No Time for Love", "Guru", "My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves", "Heroes", "Golmaal" and many more.

His debut film in Bhojpuri Language, "Bhole Shankar" is considered as the biggest Bhojpuri film. Similarly his Oriya film "Ae Jugara Krushna Sudama" where he co-starred with Oriya icon Uttam Mohanty was also a huge success.

Mithun Chakraborty has won two Filmfare Awards. The Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for "Agneepath" (1990) and the Filmfare and Star Screen Award for Best Villain Award for "Jallad" (1995). In the year 2007, he won Lifetime Achievement Award and Role model of the year award. He has also won BFJA awards two times for "Mrigaya" (1977) and "Tahader Katha" (1995). The Andolok Award has also bestowed on him the Special Editor Award (1999) and Best actor Award in 2007 for "Minister Fatakeshto".

Personal Life of Mithun Chakraborty
Mithun Chakraborty is married to Indian actress Yogita Bali and has four children, three sons and one daughter. The eldest son, Mimoh Chakraborty is an upcoming actor. The actor has a keen interest in sports and also takes special interest in football. He formed the "Bengal Football Academy".
