Statue of Vasupujya at Champapur, Bihar is the tallest statue of Vasupujya and also one of the tallest statues in eastern India.

Statue of Vasupujya, BiharStatue of Vasupujya is dedicated to Vasupujya, the 12th Jain Tirthankara of the present cosmic age. It is located at Champapur in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar. It is one of the tallest statues in eastern India and the tallest statue of Lord Vasupujya in India with a height of 31 ft. The Statue of Vasupujya was constructed and donated by a Charitable Trust of Nagaland. The first ever Mahamastakabhishekam of the Statue of Vasupujya was performed on 3rd March 2014.

Significance of Champapur
Champapur in Bihar is a Siddha Kshetra and occupies a very significant place among the Jains. This is said to be the place where all the five Kalyanakas (five auspicious events) – Garbh, Janam, Diksha, Kevaljnana and Moksha Kalyanaka of Tirthankara Vasupujya took place. It is said that the first Tirthankara Rishabha, 23rd Tirthankara Parshvanatha and last Tirthankara Mahavira had their Chaturmas (monsoon stay) at this place.

Construction of Statue of Vasupujya
The Statue of Vasupujya was built in the memory of Smt. Sona Devi Sethi of Dimapur, Nagaland. The stone for the statue was brought all the way from Koyra mines in Karnataka to Champapur in Bihar. The original stone weighed over a 100 tonnes and was brought by road. The carving of the statue was done by "Jagdish Sharma and Co", sculptors from Rajasthan. The carving was completed in about 14 months.
