Khandu River

Khandu River is one of the rivers flowing in the Tapti River Basin. The Khandu River flows in the Amaravati district of Maharashtra which is one of the tributaries of the Tapti River.

The Khandu River rising near Khamla in Betul district enters the Amaravati district to flow west of the Katkumbh plateau and has a fairly long and winding course in a general north-westerly direction cutting its bed deeply through the several ranges of hills, before joining the Tapi just outside the district.

Wildlife near Khandu River
Melghat Tiger Reserve is located on southern offshoot of the Satpura Mountain Range in Central India, also called Gawilgarh hills. The area is catchment to the 5 major rivers namely Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga and Dolar, all of which are tributaries of the river Tapti. Melghat is prime biodiversity repository of the Maharashtra State.
