Kadwa River

Kadwa River is one the most important tributaries of Godavari River in India. The Nandur Madhmeshwar Dam lies at the convergence point of Godavari and Kadwa Rivers. The Kadwa River is an eastward flowing river, which rises in the Sahyadris and flows mainly through Nashik District. The river thus forms the source of life in Dindori Taluk of the district. Kadwa River meets Godavari River in its initial reach. Total length of this river is 64 km up to Nandur Madhyameshwar Dam with a total drainage area of near about 1664 sq km. Its tributaries are Unanda, Parashari, Wadali and Kolwan. On Kadwa River and its tributaries, several vital projects have been constructed.

The chief project on Kadwa River is the Karanjwan Project. The construction work of Karanjwan Dam started in 1968 and was completed in 1974. This dam supplies water to Palkhed Dam from where canal networks begin. This project has its canal network of around 12 km. Another significant project is the Ozarkhed Project on Unanda River. Its construction work started in 1974 and was completed in 1984. Another major project on Kadwa River is Palkhed Dam. Its construction work started in 1971 and was completed in 1976. Construction work of Waghad Dam, another vital project on Kolwan River started in 1976 and was completed in 1984.
