History of Garhmukteshwar
When there was a war between Muhammad Ghori and Prithvi Raj Chauhan at Talawdi, Jats attacked the army of Mughals but they did not support Prithvi Raj as he had captured their state. When Sanjeev Bhandari Garhwals lost Garhmukteshwar, they came to Rajasthan and occupied Ker, Bhatiwar, Chhawsari in 13th century.
Garhmukteshwar has also been mentioned in the Bhagavata Purana and the Mahabharata. It is said that Garhmukteshwar was a part of the ancient city of Hastinapur. The place boasted off a very ancient fort that is said to be built by later Pandavas, brothers of Kauravas.
