Filmfare Award for Best Editing is presented by Filmfare to motion picture editors who edit film shots by putting them together in the most appropriate sequence for a Hindi film.

Filmfare Award for Best EditingThe Filmfare Award for Best Editing is presented by Filmfare in its annual Filmfare Awards, to the editor of a Hindi film of the preceding year, who applies the creative post-production art and technique of film editing into assembling the shots and editing the scenes, to contrive the most coherent and appropriate sequence of the running film.

The category was introduced in 1955, a year after the inception of the awards.

Prominent Records in Filmfare Award for Best Editing
Well known Indian film director Hrishikesh Mukherjee, eminent film personality Raj Kapoor, National Award winning Indian film editing professional A. Sreekar Prasad and film editor Sanjay Verma together account for the most number of wins in the Filmfare Award for Best Editing, with a total of 3 awards each.

National Award winning editors Renu Saluja and Namrata Rao, along with editors M. S. Shinde, B. S. Glaad, V. N. Mayekar and G. G. Mayekar have won the award twice each.

Filmfare Award for Best Editing at 61st Filmfare Awards
In the 61st edition of Filmfare Awards held in January, 2016, editor A. Sreekar Prasad was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Editing, for his work in the 2015 drama film "Talvar", inspired by the 2008 Noida double murder case of 14-year old girl Aarushi Talwar and the domestic help Hemraj.
