As an adult she made her cinematic debut with the movie "Student of the Year" in 2012. Alia Bhatt, the highest paid actress of India, has won Film Fare Award for two times in the category of Best Actress along with several other recognitions. She also does play back singing for some of her films, including the "Samjhawan Unplugged" in 2014, which received immense popularity. She has recently launched her own line of clothing and handbags and she is the founder of the ecological initiative CoExist. Some of her popular movies, for which she gained enormous praising, are "Udta Punjab", "Highway", "Dear Zindagi", "Raazi", "Kapoor & Sons", "2 States" etc.

Early Life of Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt was born on 15th March 1993 in Mumbai to the renowned film director Mahesh Bhatt and famed actress Soni Razdan. Her mother has a Kashmiri and German ancestry while her father has a Gujarati ancestry. In May 2011, Alia Bhatt completed her high school from Jamnabai Narsee School IBDP. She worked in the film industry as a child artist in "Sangharsh" to play the role of Preity Zinta"s childhood. Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta were in the lead roles in the film. The actress holds British citizenship.

Alia Bhatt has done her debutant film as an adult with "Student of the Year" under the banner of Dharma Productions with Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in 2012. She got quite focus for this movie. Alia won Lions Gold Awards for Favourite Debut (Female) for the movie. She also received Vogue Beauty Awards for Best Debutant in 2013. Alia"s role in this movie was a reminiscence of Kareena Kapoor in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".

In 2014, she was again seen on the silver screen for the movie "Highway" with Randeep Hooda, which brought her Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress. Her portrayal of a lonely teenage girl, who develops Stockholm Syndrome after being abducted, was highly praised by the critics. This film was followed by another big hit of her named "2 States" in the same year opposite Arjun Kapoor, in which she played the role of a Tamilian girl. After this, she has done several films both in lead and cameo roles and one short film "Going Home". In 2016, Alia"s "Kapoor & Sons" was a big hit followed by "Udta Punjab" and "Dear Zindagi" in the same year. For "Udta Punjab" she won Filmfare Award for Best Actress and the later one made her nominated for the same category. In 2017, she worked in "Badrinath Ki Dulhania", for which she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

As a showstopper she walked the ramp in India International Jewelery Week, Wills India Fashion Week Spring/Summer and Indian Bridal Fashion Week. She also participated in a fund raising event for the flood-affected victims of Uttarakhand along with Huma Qureshi, Shraddha Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan.

Personal Life of Alia Bhatt
Bollywood actress and director Pooja Bhatt is her step sister. Producer Mukesh Bhatt is her uncle whereas actor Emraan Hashmi and film directors Mohit Suri and Vishesh Bhatt are her cousins.
