Early Life Varun Dhawan
Varun Dhawan was born on 24th April 1987 to the prominent film director David Dhawan and Karuna Dhawan in the city of Mumbai. Another film director Rohit Dhawan is his elder brother who marked his directional debut with the 2011 movie Desi Boyz. Varun is the cousin of actor Siddharth Dhawan and the nephew of actor Anil Dhawan. Varun Dhawan acquired a degree in Business Management from the Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom.

Career of Varun Dhawan Varun Dhawan stepped into the film world as an assistant director to Karan Johar and worked for the 2010 movie My Name Is Khan. He made his cinematic debut as an actor in the year 2012 with the romantic comedy Student of the Year under the direction of Karan Johar. In the movie he starred alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt and portrayed the role of the teenage son of a rich businessman. His confident performance in the movie met positive reviews from critics. In the year 2014, two of his films released. His first venture in 2014 was the comedy flick Main Tera Hero which was a remake of the Telugu movie Kandireega. The movie was a box office success. He next appeared in the romantic comedy Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania alongside Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Shukla. In the movie he portrayed the role of a flirtatious Punjabi boy. Once again his screen presence was lauded by the critics.

Apart from films Varun Dhawan also performs in stage shows and has also co-hosted two award ceremonies. In the year 2013 he performed at Stardust, Screen and Filmfare awards. He was also a part of an event in Hong Kong. In 2013 he anchored Stardust Awards ceremony with Sidharth Malhotra and Ayushmann Khurrana and also a segment of 59th Filmfare Awards. He co-hosted the 20th Screen Awards with Shahrukh Khan and Richa Chadda. In 2013 he performed at a fund raising event alongside other film stars for the flood-affected victims of Uttarakhand.
