It is one of the most important pilgrimage centres of the town dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, a form of Goddess Durga. Every year the temple organises the mahotsavam during the month of March for ten days. The festival commences with the pongala. Devotees especially from Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram and other parts of the country flock the temple during the festive season. An elephant procession known as Gajamela is organised on the ninth day of the festival. It forms the main attraction of the mahotsavam. People belonging to different castes partake in the activities of this grand festival. Kodimoottil Sri Bhadrakaali Temple is maintained by the Ezhavas community.
