![]() History of Shri Dungarpur Teerth The history of Shri Dungarpur Teerth states that it is a very ancient teerth. The temple was built by Sheth Sanvalldas Davada. He also installed the golden coloured idol of the Lord in the temple by the auspicious hands of the disciples of Acharya Ratnasurishvarji in the year 1526 of the Vikram Samvat Era. Later the Muslims destroyed the idol thus; a white colored idol was then reinstalled. The metal parikar can be seen today. The idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev is worshipped and revered by thousands of pilgrims who visit the temple from different places. The lord is believed to possess miraculous powers and is said that if prayed with full devotion it fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims. Temple of Shri Dungarpur Teerth The temple of Shri Dungarpur Teerth houses the idol of Bhagwan Rishabh Dev. The Swetambara temple has been brilliantly decorated with intricate artistic designs that enhance the look of the temple. The creative works of the craftsmen depicts their skills. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings. The pictures of the twenty four Tirthankars of the past, present and the future groups can also be seen in the temple. The idol of the Lord is 105 cms in height and is white in colour. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. The Temple of Sri Dungarpur Teerth organizes many annual gatherings and functions that are celebrated with much enthusiasm. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims that are well equipped with all modern facilities. There are also facilities for Upashrays, Ayambilshala and Jnanabhandar. The teerth being situated in the midst of beautiful natural surroundings attracts many pilgrims. The scenic beauty and the calm and tranquil environment mesmerize and fascinate the pilgrims.
