is a prestigious award ceremony of India dedicated to Hindi film industry. It commemorates the film personalities of Bollywood
for their professional excellence. The awards are presented by the film fraternity itself under different categories. The winners and nominations of the event are decided by a panel of jury members. The award ceremony was introduced in the year 1994 and is conducted every year since then. It is also accredited as the only award ceremony of the country which has been attended by the Executive Director and the Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
20th Screen Awards
20th Screen Awards was held on 14th January 2014 and was telecasted on 25th January 2014 on Life Ok channel. The event honoured the best films of the year 2013. It was hosted by Shahrukh Khan
. Several Bollywood films of 2013 did exceptionally well in the musical arena and presented some very catchy as well as soulful melodies composed by various music directors
. The nominations for Screen Awards For Best Music Director included Ankit Tiwari, Mithoon and Jeet Ganguly
for Aashiqui 2, Amit Trivedi
for Kai Po Che!, A.R. Rahman
for Raanjhanaa, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy
for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Pritam for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The award was however won by Pritam.
Pritam Chakraborty is one of the most famed music composers of Bollywood who is known for his chartbuster songs. He has composed some of the most popular songs of industry and is also a part of the music band called Metro. Apart from Screen Award, he has been the recipient of several other film awards.
