Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na, Indian CinemaJaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na (2008) is the debut film of Imran Khan and it co stars Genelia D`Souza. Since its release the film has fared well in attracting the audiences to the theatre halls and has received positive reviews as well. Imran Khan is Aamir Khan`s nephew. The newcomer is impressive in his role of Jai in Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na. The film is directed by Abbas Tyrewala.

The plot revolves around two people: Jai and Aditi. They are the best of buddies. They are so close to each other that there respective families think that they are in love with each other. However after they pass out of their college Aditi`s parents propose marriage. To both Jai and Aditi the proposal sounds outrageous. They are not in love that is what they profess. Although they are friends but as far as their disposition is concerned it is poles apart. Aditi is short tempered and even abuses and fights with people when outraged. Jai is cool-headed and does not believe in violence. So both of them set out to find a perfect life partner for each other.

Jai ends up meeting and falling for Meghna, whim they meet at a pub. He saves her from two hooligans, played by Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. The twist in the tale comes when Aditi starts missing her best friend. They disagree over trivial issues and both realise that they are in love. In the meantime while Jai tries to be happy with Meghna, Aditi gets engaged to Sushant, a family friend. Although he seems perfectly the kind of person she has been seeking it becomes increasingly difficult for her to forget Jai. As the plot unfolds it turns out that Sushant is rather a selfish and envious person. He is not the level headed person he seems to be. Their relationship ends with a fight with Sushant hitting Aditi.

Jai meets Aditi as she is going away to USA for 3 years to pursue film studies. As they talk Jai come to know about their break and he too has broken up with Meghna. He sees Aditi has been wounded and is angry beyond words at such an unchivalrous act. He goes to meet Sushant, they fight and he hits Sushant. Jai is sent to jail. He is desperate to get out so that he can stop Aditi from leaving the country. In jail he once again comes across the two madcaps, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. They turn out to be his royal cousins and they help them in being released from jail and the clutches of Inspector Waghmare.

Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na ends with Jai and Aditi being united at the airport and they get married. The entire plot is being narrated as a story by Jai and Aditi`s friends to a girl who is new in their group. The movie is well paced and the story is interestingly told. Not once in the movie will the audiences feel bored. There story is not new but the way in which it has been narrated is fresh. Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na is not a melodrama but an impressive film from the romantic genre.

As far as performances are concerned Imran Khan is spontaneous. His effortless acting is equally matched by the rest of the crew. Naseeruddin Shah`s coming timing is too good. Genelia D`Souza cuts a pretty figure and looks convincing as the fighting `Meow.` Mention must be made of the handsome Pratik Babbar, Smita Patil`s son. He is more than impressive as the introvert brother of Aditi. Amit is caustic with Jai and he admits towards the end that he is envious of him as he is the perfect son. But Amit loves his sister wants her to marry Jai. His outstanding talent as a painter is revealed at the end of the Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na. The scene where he shows his room to Aditi for the first time is unforgettable. The entire room is full of paintings; it`s awesome.

The music of Jaane Tu ... Ya Jaane Na has been composed by AR Rahman. The songs are melodious. Coming from AR Rahman the songs fit perfectly with the mood of the film. `Pappu Cant Dance` and `Kabhi Kabhi Aditi` are popular with the Indian cine goers. The film has also bagged critical accolades.
