Amit Trivedi, Indian Movie Music DirectorAmit Trivedi is a renowned music composer working primarily for Hindi film industry. His work arena also comprises background score in films, lyrics writing and playback singing for Bollywood. He made his debut in the music world in the year 2008 with the movie Aamir for which he composed the film scores. However, he gained recognition in the following year with his critically acclaimed work in the Hindi film Dev.D. His musical compositions are known to have a unique charm and perspective. His compositions reflect vigorous musical experimentations and a refined sense of instrumentation to create an entirely different range of music. In spite of never being formally trained in singing, he has voiced many of his compositions garnering much appreciation.

Early Life of Amit Trivedi
Amit Trivedi was born on 8th April 1979 to a Gujarati family in Bandra, Mumbai. He was inclined towards music since a young age, especially towards Indian classical music. He started composing music at the age of 19-20. He was a part of a music band called Om during his college days which used to perform at small shows and local functions.

Career of Amit Trivedi

Soon the band was spotted by the Times Music at one of the shows and was offered to launch an album. However, owing to the lack of promotion, the album could not grab much attention. Subsequently Amit Trivedi began composing music for theatre including English, Hindi and Gujarati plays. He also indulged in composing for orchestras and dandiya shows, live performances and also created background music for television shows. For a short phase Amit Trivedi was also involved in composing advertisement jingles for popular brands such as Airtel and McDonalds. His tryst with the sound engineer and Audio Garage Recording Studio owner Arvind Vishwakarma opened up new avenues for Amit in the world of music. Arvind Vishwakarma introduced him to Sony BMG following which he began composing music for non-film albums. He worked with the company in a two years contract during which he composed a few tracks for Abhijeet Sawant`s Junoon and Prashant Tamang`s debut album. In 2004 he worked as a music arranger for the famous musician Amartya Rahut for Uttarayan, a Marathi movie.

Amit Trivedi got a break in films when his name was suggested to the noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap by his friend and playback singer Shilpa Rao. The director was eventually seeking a new composer, having a distinct vision, for his new movie. Thus Amit received the offer for composing the soundtrack for the Bollywood film Dev.D. His music in the film gathered huge critical appreciations. Anurag Kashyap further recommended Amit as the film scorer of Raj Kumar Gupta`s directorial venture Aamir. Although Dev.D was supposed to be the debut venture of Amit, the movie got shelved for some time and thus Aamir marked his film debut. Once again Amit received critical applauses for his music in Aamir. In the film Dev.D Amit also sang five songs and also wrote lyrics for a track. The songs `O Pardesi`, `Saali Khushi` and `Emosanal Attyachar` went on to become chartbusters earning him many accolades. Amit Trivedi also worked for the 2009 movie Wake Up Sid in which one of his composition `Iktaara` received critical as well as commercial success. In the year 2009 he composed the team anthem `Game for More` for Royal Challengers Bangalore, an IPL team owned by Vijay Mallya. He has also written the title track for the reality show UTV Bindaas and Big Switch. Amit Trivedi rendered his first live concert IIT Bombay`s annual cultural festival called Mood Indigo in 2010. He has also performed at a Coke Studio concert at IIM Bangalore in 2013.

Achievements of Amit Trivedi
In 2009 Amit Trivedi won National Film Award for Best Music Direction for the movie Dev.D. In the same year and for the same film he also won Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent and Filmfare Award for Best Background Score. In the year 2010 he won Filmfare Award for Best Background Score for the movie Udaan.
