The Vishnu Purana affirms that Kritanjaya is the Vyasa of the seventeenth Dwapara of the twenty-eight Dwapara. Twenty eight times the Vedas have been arranged by the great Rishis in the Vaivaswata Manvantara in the Dvapara age. Consequently eight and twenty Vyasas have passed away; by whom, in their respective periods, the Vedas have been divided into four parts.
