Deolo Hill is one of the beautiful Indian mountains
and is the highest peak in Kalimpong
. It is situated in the northeast of Kalimpong. The hill is surrounded by misty air, lush greenery and fantastic landscapes. Every year, tourists from various corners of the world throng to this hill.
Location of Deolo Hill
Deolo Hill is located in Kalimpong which is a hill station situated in the West Bengal state of India
. The town is situated between the ridge, which connects the hills of Durpin
, and Deolo. The hill is positioned at an elevation of 1,704 metres (5590 feet) above mean sea level.
Attractions of Deolo Hill
The hill provides the perfect view of the meeting point of the Rangit and Teesta rivers
and the town of Kalimpong. The Deolo Hills also provide a picturesque view of snow peaks of West Sikkim
. The stunning views of surrounding villages
of Relli valley, Teesta River and its valleys can also be enjoyed from this point. There are three reservoirs on the top of the hill, which is a source of drinking water
in the area.
In addition to the scenic beauty, the hill also houses a man made park. The top of the hill is beautifully adorned with park which offers excellent opportunities for enjoyment. Here one will find well maintained garden which exhibits myriad exotic flowers
. The park is also utilised for various amusement activities like picnic, games etc. It is also used by many for the purpose of recreation. The park is popular among the locals as well as tourists. Near the park, a Hindu temple
has been constructed which is equally popular among the people. Deolo Hill is also ideal for trekking
Connectivity of Deolo Hill
One can arrive up to a certain point near the hill by vehicles like cab or jeep. Beyond this, one has to walk a little. The entire distance can also be trekked. It takes around forty-five minutes to complete the journey. There is a tourist lodge built on the hill where one can take accommodation. From here, one can enjoy the spectacular view of Sunrise on Kanchenjunga
