Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps

Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps was an infantry regiment of the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces. It was formed on 17th January 1879 under the administration of the Bengal Command.

The Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps unit was an erstwhile infantry regiment under the British Colonial Auxiliary Forces of British Indian Army. The volunteer corps regiment served under the military administration of the Bengal Command. It was also a part of the Bengal Army of Bengal Presidency. It was formed on 17th January 1879 by the British Empire in India. The infantry regiment included personnel from the Tirhoot State Railway which was one of the first metre gauge railways of the British Indian Government.

On 17th June 1892, the Tirhoot State Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps was united with the Bengal and North Western Railway Volunteer Rifles. It was later renamed as the Bengal and North Western Railway Battalion in the year 1920.
