Subarnameru Temple, an ancient Hindu pilgrimage centre dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located in Sonepur town in Subarnapur district in the Indian state of Orissa. The shrine enshrines a Sivalingam within a circular yonipitha, installed inside the sanctum sanctorum or garbhagriha.

The Subarnameru Temple is closely associated with legendry fable that narrates about a miraculous incident about an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. The devotee, once in great trouble, prayed to the Lord for assistance. It is said that Lord Shiva to help his devotee had blessed him with gold coins showered in the form of rain. The town has thus, derived its name Sonepur or Subarnapur this incident.
