Shri Gangani Teerth

Shri Gangani Teerth located at Rajasthan is a Jain pilgrimage centre. The teerth kshetra is situated in Gangani Village. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha, the twenty-third Jain Tirthankara.

History of Shri Gangani Teerth
According to history Shri Gangani Teerth dates back to the ancient times. Earlier the teerth kshetra was known as Arjunpuri and later it was known as Ganganak. This place is associated with many legends and miracles. As per a legend 65 had been discovered from a cellar of the Khokharnak temple near the Dudhiya Lake in the year 1662 of the Vikram Samvat Era. The temple and the lake can be still be seen here. Since its construction the temple has been repaired and renovated several times in the fourteenth century and in the sixteenth century. The temple has been last renovated in the year 1982. The temple was installed by Emperor Chandragupta Maurya under the auspices of Bhadorabhahusuriji. The idol of the temple was installed by King Samprati under the auspicious hands of the revered Suhastisurishvarji. The idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers. Thousands of Jains and non Jains from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

The temple of Shri Gangani Teerth houses the idol of Chintamani Parshvanatha. The Swetambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art and paintings. The temple is two storied and is adorned with summits that are almost 22 metres high. The idol of the Lord is 40 cm in height and is white in colour. It is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. In this temple, there is an idol of Lord Adhishvar that is made of all metals. An inscription of the year 937 is carved on it. This idol is very miraculous and attracts many pilgrims.

The Temple of Shri Gangani Teerth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from this there are Upashrays, an Ayambilshala and a Jnanabhandar. The teertha is situated amidst beautiful natural surroundings.
