Rohilkhand Volunteer Rifle Corps

The Rohilkhand Volunteer Rifle Corps was a former British Indian Infantry unit that operated under the Volunteer Corps of the British Army in India. The regiment was raised as the Rohilkhand Volunteer Rifle Corps on 30th September 1881. It initially served as a part of the Presidency Armies in British India which included Bengal Army, Madras Army and Bombay Army.

The Rohilkhand Volunteer Rifle Corps was headquartered at Bareilly in the district of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh state. In the year 1901, the uniform of the troops was khaki drill. The detached companies of the auxiliary regiments were posted in various army camps in Pilibhit, Bijnorm, Budaon, Kathgodam, Roorkee, Lucknow, Rosa, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Aligarh and Chandausi.

On 24th July 1903, the unit was merged with the Oudh Volunteer Rifle Corps in order to raise the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps. The unit was re-designated as the 25th Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway Battalion on 1st April 1917.
