Pavalavannam Temple

Pavalavanam temple, also known as Tiru Pavala Vannam, is a Hindu Vaishnavite temple situated in Kanchipuram in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. A Divya Desam, the presiding deity of the temple is Lord Krishna. The pilgrimage centre, visited by devotees from different sections of the society, is one of the 108 holy abodes of Lord Vishnu. The Thenkalai sect of Vaishnavite tradition is hugely adhered to by the temple.

History of Pavalavanam Temple
Pavalavanam Temple, a prominent Vaishnavaite centre, was once visited by 3 alwars, the great saints in Vaishnavite tradition, namely Peyalvar, Thirumalisai Alvar and Thirumangai Alvar. These three alwars among the twelve sang songs on various forms of God. Besides, many eminent acharyas have also penned down famous songs on different forms of God in this temple. The temple faces the western direction.

The temple located in the heart of Kanchipuram city is almost 70 kms away from the city of Chennai. Pilgrims swarm the temple premises to offer worship the lord during Vaikunta Ekadasi and the in the Tamil month of Margazhi.
