Ekadasi

Ekadasi is an Indian ritual or ceremony performed after the death of a relative.

Ekadasi is a ceremony performed on the eleventh day after the death of a relative. During the previous ten days the relatives are supposed to be mourning, and in a state of asaucha or impurities, so that no one can communicate with them. When Ekadasi is performed the period of uncleanness ceases.

Ekadasi is also the eleventh day after the new and full moon, observed by the Vaishnavas as a fast day.
