Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles, also known as Nainital Volunteer Rifles regiment, was among the erstwhile infantry regiments of the volunteer corps which operated under the control of the British Indian Army. The auxiliary unit was incorporated as a part of the Presidency Armies in British India that included the Madras Army of Madras Presidency, the Bengal Army of Bengal Presidency, and the Bombay Army of Bombay Presidency.
The Naini Tal Volunteer Rifles regiment originally consisted of a mounted troop. However the regiment was merged with the Dehradun Mounted Rifles (Dehra Dun Mounted Rifles) regiment in 1909. The two former army units formed the United Provinces 2nd (Northern) Regiment in the same year.
