Mosque of Syed Muhammad

Mosque of Syed Muhammad is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. More specifically, this mosque is located close to the dargah built by Syed Muhammad. He is identified as an attendant during the reign of Aurangzeb. He was awarded a robe of honor, a female elephant and a token of one thousand rupees in the 4th year, during the reign of Aurangzeb. This mosque is known to be constructed in 1692-93.

Architectural Design of the Mosque of Syed Muhammad
The mosque of Syed Muhammad is simple in its appearance yet looks graceful. Its facade comprises of three cusped arches that are sustained by polygonal columns. It is a style typical of the architectural pattern of the period of Aurangzeb. This is a small mosque built on a platform and bears many inscriptions that include a lengthy Persian line inlaid with black stones into a white marble ground. The inscription was designed by Naji. He was a famous poet and calligrapher during the period of Aurangzeb. The inscription bears resemblance in its appearance, design and location to the one on Shah Jahan`s mosque. The date of construction of the building has been mentioned in the last line of the inscriptions carved in the mosque.
