Madneswar Shiva Temple

Madanesvara Shiva Temple, a ruined monument reciting the chronicles of the town of Bhubaneshwar, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the left side of the Mahavir Lane diversified from the Garage Chowk in Santarapur to Sisupalgarh. This 12th century temple situated in Orissa enshrines a Shiva lingam within a circular yonipitha in its sanctum sanctorum. The temple now in dilapidated state has been able to keep its pabhaga portion intact.

Madanesvara Shiva Temple, facing the eastern side, is enclosed by private residential buildings on the northern, western and eastern side. The main road is on the northern side. The temple had a square sanctum sanctorum or a grabhagriha that enshrined its central deity. The complete edifice excluding the pabhaga had collapsed long ago. The pabhaga had been later renovated with five mouldings that comprises of khura, kumbha, pata, kani and basanta.
