Kunjallur Narasimhaswamy Temple is Hindu temple located in the Calicut District of Kerala. The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Sree Narasimha Moorthy. Narasimha is a divine form of Lord Vishnu. This temple is believed to be one of the ancient narasimha temples. It is situated in a locality known as Kunjallur in Purameri. The temple is believed to be thousand years old. Kunjhallur is one of the rare temples of Kerala where Narasimhamoorthy is enshrined as the main God. It is believed that by worshipping Lord Kunjhallurappa devotees can get rid off all obstacles. Apart from the main deities the temple has other sub deities like Lord Ganesha, Shastha, Goddess Durga, Bhadrakaali, Vettakkaran (Lord Shiva) and Venna Krishnan. The supreme right for tantric rituals of the temple belongs to Thekkiniyedathu Tharananellur illam.
Festivals of Kunjallur Narasimhaswamy Temple
The Kunjallur Narasimhaswamy Temple celebrates many festivals on a grand scale. During this time the temple is beautifully decorated with lights and flowers. The festival attracts many devotees from far off places. Main festival of the temple is celebrated for 7 days in grand manner, which ends on the `Thiruvonam` in the malayalam month Meenam. Special pooja and dwadasanamam kaalkazhichuttu are conducted here in the month of Visakham on Ekadashi day. Another festival Vishu Kani is celebrated on the first day of the month of medom. Other beautiful festivals like Narasimha Jayanthi and Thiruvonam are also celebrated here.
