The Konkan Railways were restructured and opened to the public on 26th January, 1998. Adequate number of passenger trains and ferry trains ply on a regular basis in this zone. Trains, such as, Janshatabdi Express, Matsyaganda Express, Rajdhani Express, Konkankanya Express, Mangala Lakshadweep Express, Thiruvananthapuram Netravati Express and Garib Rath Express are a part of the railway services at Konkan Railways.

The stations have been well provided with several facilities for the passengers. Cloak rooms, retiring rooms, easy cancellation and reservation facilities, etc.
