Farida Jalal is a competent Indian actress of Hindi film industry who has been acclaimed for her versatile acting skills which have been played by her with dignity and excellence. She was born on 14th March in the year 1949. This Indian actress has been appreciated for playing significant roles of sisters for actors like Vinod Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan.
Achievements of Farida Jalal
In the 1960s, Farida Jalal won the United Film Producers Talent Hunt sponsored by Filmfare and made an entry into the Bollywood. She debuted with the movie `Chaudvin Ka Chand`. One of her most critically acclaimed roles was in `Bobby` where she played the part of the mentally challenged would-be fiancee of Rishi Kapoor. Meanwhile, Farida has also done offbeat movies like `Mammo` where she gave received the greatest award of her life. She played the role of a bubbly romantic girl in `Aradhana` opposite Rajesh Khanna which was praised by all. She was often offered the role of a sister, fiancee in the movies. Before she could exhaust herself with similar roles, she switched to character roles and became one of the greatest mothers` of Hindi cinema. For her efforts in `Henna` in the year 1992 and Aditya Chopra`s ` Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge`, she won the best supporting awards in 1995. During the 1990`s, Farida Jalal was active in almost every major hit movies like `Raja Hindustani`, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, `Kya Kehna`, `Kaho Na Pyaar Hai`, `Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham`, `Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge` and many more.
Farida Jalal is a notable actress who has contributed to Bollywood movies, for a period spanning over 40 years. However, she took a break from films during the years 1983 and 1990 and settled in Bangalore. Farida has also acted in many television serials, such as, in the hit sitcom, `Dekh Bahi Dekh`. Also, she stars in `Shararat: Thoda Sa Jadu`, `Thodi Si Nazaakat` in which she plays a leading role which was aired in the STAR Plus channel. In 2005 she worked as co-hostesses at the 50th Filmfare Awards along with Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre, in Mumbai. During 2008, Farida Jalal made a guest appearance in `Yaariyan`, which was a Punjabi movie. In the same year, she acted in `Balika Vadhu`, a soap opera.
Personal Life of Farida Jalal
Farida Jalal married Tabrez Barmavar, an actor belonging to Bhatkal. Barmavar died in September 2003. Yaseen is the son of Farida Jalal and Tabrez Barmavar. Farida Jalal enacted the lead role of the female protagonist in the movie `Jeevan Rekha`, in which Tabrez, her husband acted the role of the hero. Ajit and Pran were the other talented actors who starred in the film. One of the songs of this movie, named `Yaar mere, meri baahon me aaja` which has been sung by Mohammed Rafi, has gained immense popularity.

Farida Jalal has won many Filmfare Awards in her film career. In 1972 she got Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for `Paras`. She got her second filmfare award for best supporting actress award for `Henna`. In 1995 she got Filmfare Critic`s Award for Best Performance in `Mammo`, in 1996 she was awarded the Bengali Film Journalists Association Awards for her performance in the movie `Mammo`, in the category of Best Actress and in 1996 she got the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for `Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge`. She also got national award for Shyam Benegal movie `Mammo`.
