Districts of South Uttar Pradesh are dotted with many temples. Here the districts are Allahabad District, Chitrakoot district, Jhansi District and Mirzapur district.
Allahabad District
Allahabad District is one of the major and the largest districts of Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad city is the district headquarters. Allahabad district is a part of Allahabad Division. Allahabad District is divided into blocks within tehsils. There are 20 blocks in eight tehsils. Allahabad division includes the districts of Fatehpur, Kaushambi and Allahabad, with the western Allahabad District becoming part of the new Kaushambi district. The administrative divisions are Phulpur, Koraon, Meja, Sadar, Soraon, Handia, Bara and Karchana.
Chitrakoot District
Chitrakoot district is one of the major districts of Uttar Pradesh and Chitrakoot town is the district headquarters. Chitrakoot district is a part of Chitrakoot Division. The district occupies an area of 3,45,291 square km. The district has a population of 990,626. As of 2011 it is the second least populous district of Uttar Pradesh after Mahoba District.
Jhansi District
Jhansi District is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state in northern India. The city of Jhansi is the district headquarters. Jhansi District is bordered on the north by Jalaun District, to the east by Hamirpur and Mahoba districts, to the south by Tikamgarh District of Madhya Pradesh state, to the southwest by Lalitpur District, which is joined to Jhansi District by a narrow corridor, and on the east by the Datia and Bhind districts of Madhya Pradesh. Lalitpur District was added to Jhansi District in 1891. At last, this district was made a separate district again in 1974.
Mirzapur District
Mirzapur district is one of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh state. Mirzapur district is bounded on the north by Sant Ravidas Nagar District and Varanasi district, on the east by Chandauli district, on the south by Sonbhadra district and on the northwest by Allahabad district. The district occupies an area of 4521 square km. Mirzapur town is the district headquarters. Mirzapur district is a part of Mirzapur division. This district is known for the Vindhyavasini temple in Vindhyachal. It consists of several ghats where historical sculptures are still present. During the Ganges festival, these ghats are decorated with lights and diyas. It is currently a part of the Red Corridor of India tourism.
