Churches of Andhra PradeshChurches of Andhra Pradesh are significant monuments of the state. They are the shelters for spirituality and also serve as popular tourist destinations in the state. Christianity consolidated itself in Andhra Pradesh many years ago and with the advent of British rule in India, establishment of churches in this state received the necessary impetus. Although many of these churches were built in ancient times, they have been well preserved and taken care of till date.

Fatima Church
Fatima Church is located in Kazipet. It is a famous Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Mary Matha. The church attracts a number a devotees from all over the state. An annual celebration is held at this church in the month of February where several pilgrims gather.

Centenary Methodist Church
Another popular church of Andhra Pradesh is Centenary Methodist Church, situated at Hyderabad. The church is under the administration of Methodist Church in India. Built in 1817, it is considered as the oldest church of the city.

Holy Trinity Church
Holy Trinity Church is situated in Secunderabad. Sponsored by Queen Victoria, the church was built in 1847. This Anglican Church exhibits a Victorian gothic style of architecture. Beautiful stained glass window embellish this church.

Shrine of Our Lady of Health
The biggest octagonal church of Asia is the Shrine of Our Lady of Health which is located in Hyderabad. This Roman Catholic Church is dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary. Grand celebration of the birthday of Blessed Virgin Mary is organized in this church on September 8th of every year. The feast gathers a huge number of devotees from different parts of the country.

All Saints Church
All Saints Church is located in Secunderabad and is under the administration of the Church of South India. Built in 1860 AD, the church greatly serves the Tamil Anglican congregation of Secunderabad. The admirable features of the church include beautiful stained glass window, lamps along with a baptismal font and antique pews. The church was honored with INTACH Heritage award for proper maintenance.

St. George`s Church
Situated in Hyderabad, St. George`s Church is one of the oldest churches of the city. It was established in 1844 AD. The church was previously an Anglican Church but later came under the Church of South India.

St. John`s Church
St. John`s Church is the most ancient church of the twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad. This church was built in 1813 with the aim of fulfilling the spiritual needs of British forces.

St Joseph`s Cathedral
St Joseph`s Cathedral located in Hyderabad is a Roman Catholic Cathedral. Constructed in 1820 AD, it is the most elegant and admired church of the state. This church is famous for its excellent architecture.

Apart from these, other churches of Andhra Pradesh enlist St. Mary`s Church, Medak Cathedral, St. Stephens Orthodox Church, Christ Lutheran Church, St. Andrew`s Syrian Orthodox Church, St. Andrew`s Marthoma Syrian Church and many more.

Churches of Andhra Pradesh are the manifestations of finest gothic style of architecture. The interior of the churches are adorned with beautiful artistry having stained glass window and wall decorations. These churches contribute immensely to the national heritage of the country.
