Situated in Burra chowk, Jagannath Temple was built in the 17th century. The presiding deity is Lord Vishnu, along with the presence of other deities. The temple was constructed by Raja Budh Prakash in 1681 A.D. The entrance to the Jagannath Temple is through a stately vaulted gateway. The temple walls are exquisitely ornamented with paintings and murals, instancing folk themes. Jagannath temple is also known for its Bawan Dwadeshi Festival, held annually in September. This religious festival terminates in a colourful procession, after which about 52 idols of local gods are carried in a parade to the Jagannath Temple, where they are floated grandly in a pool and then is restituted at midnight to their position.
