Chandramouleshwara Temple is located in the Indian state of North Karnataka. Unkal is one of the areas that come under Hubli Dharwad. It is on the old Pune - Bangaluru highway NH4. Chandramouleshwara Temple is very near to Unkal circle and Unkal Lake (on Old NH4 between Hubli and Dharwad). Exactly opposite to the temple one can place the very gorgeous Nrupatunga Betta. In the backdrop of Betta, the temple looks very beautiful.

The temple, known for its architectural brilliance is situated in the suburbs of Hubbali and is a prime example of Architecture of Chalukya Dynasty. Chandramouleshwara is a beautiful temple which is 900 years old. It is no less a tourist destination which is as popular as Chennakeshava Temple of Belur. The temple was actually constructed on the lines of Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal temples. This particular monument is of national importance and was declared as protected monument so under the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Sites (Act 1958) by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Just unlike the temples of Lord Shiva in the region of North Karnataka, the Chandramouleshwara Temple has four doors in as many directions besides two big Shivalingas. The temple also has sculpted pillars and walls of black granite stones. The pictures and images of dancing Jaalandhra and Lord Ganesha at Chandramouleshwara Temple are a visual delight. This style of art is referred to as Chalukya style.
