Lord Shiva is the major Hindu deity, who represents the destroyer or the transformer among the Hindu Trinity. He is also representing as a yogi who is all encompassing and knows everything that happens in the world. He is the main aspect of life. Yet he is said to be leading the life of an ascetic or a sage at Mount Kailash.

In the Shaiva sect of Hinduism, Shiva is the Supreme God. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshipped according to united form of Shaiva and Vaishnava sects of Hindu philosophy. In other sects, he is regarded as one of the five primary forms of God. Shaivism, along with the Vaishnavism traditions that focus on Lord Vishnu and Shakta Sect that focus on the goddess Shakti, is one of the most influential denominations in Hindu religion.

Lord Shiva is usually worshipped in this temple as the abstract form of a linga. He is represented as an ascetic immersed in deep meditation or dancing the Tandava upon the demon of ignorance in his manifestation as Nataraja. Nataraja or the Lord of the dance represents goodness, humility, and every good quality a human should have.

Budhwa Mahadev Temple reveres the Lord in his normal human form. The devotees throng the temple on Mondays and on special days like Maha Shivratri when special pujas are offered to the God.
