However she gained critical acclamations for the performance in the movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was one of the most successful movies of Indian film industry. Amisha is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.

Early Life of Amisha Patel
Born on June 9, 1976, she is the daughter of Amit and Asha Patel. Her brother Ashmit Patel is also a noted film actor. She is also the granddaughter of Rajni Patel who is a renowned lawyer. She completed her schooling from the Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai. She graduated from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Initially she started working as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited. After returning to India she joined Satyadev Dubey`s theatre group and began acting in plays. She has also done many endorsements for companies like Bajaj Sevashram, Fair and Lovely, Cadburys Jai Lime, Fem, Lux and many more.

Film Career of Amisha Patel
Amisha made her acting debut with the movie, "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai" opposite Hritik Roshan who also incidentally made his debut in the same movie. The movie was a blockbuster hit at the box-office. The following year she acted in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha opposite Sunny Deol which again went to a big hit. Amisha was awarded the Filmfare Special Performance Award for the movie. Following her grand success, she got many offers from different movies but not many got the success like her first two. She acted in Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar, Kranti, Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai and Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage. In 2002 she was successful in the movie Humraaz and received accolades. Her other notable movies include Yeh Hai Jalwa, Parwana, Zameer, Vaada, Elaan, Mangal Pandey: The Rising, Humko Tumse Pyar Hai, Aap Ki Khatir, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd etc. She also did an item song in the movie Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic directed by Kunal Kohli. Her other movies include Abbas-Mustan`s Race 2 and Susi Ganeshan`s Shortcut Romeo etc. Amisha also acted in two Telugu movies named Narasimhudu and Parama Veera Chakra. In 2011, she launched her own production company in collaboration with her friend and business partner Kuunal Goomer which is known as Ameesha Patel Productions.

Amisha has also been part of many Bollywood concerts. She has performed in The Roshans: Hrithik Live in Concert in 2001. Next the actress participated in the Craze 2004 with eminent stars like Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan and Lara Dutta. She was also part of Adnan Sami`s world tour Kuch Dil Se in USA and Canada in 2005. Patel was also a part of Himesh Reshammiya`s concert Karzzzz Musical Curtain Raiser along with Neha Dhupia, Riya Sen and Amrita Arora. In December 2008, she took part in Akshay Kumar`s promotional campaign for Kumar`s film Chandni Chowk to China. It was a Christmas Eve show, Chandni Chowk to Hong with Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra, Riya Sen, Aarti Chhabria, Himesh Reshammiya and Punjabi rapper Bohemia.

Other Ventures of Amisha Patel
Amisha Patel is also a part of an animal welfare organisation PETA. She has also been a part of the HELP! Telethon Concert that raised money for the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake victims. In December 2005 she also participated in the Temptations 2005 charity function held in Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. It was organized to help the National Centre for Promotion of Employment of Disabled Persons. In 2006 Patel joined the NGO PlanetRead that promotes education of the villagers through film songs. Petal united with John Abraham and Kirron Kher in the United Nations on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) that fosters to curtail human trafficking in India.
