Bhool Bhulaiya , Indian MovieThe Indian movie `Bhool Bhulaiya` is a official remake of the critically applauded and huge box office hit 1993 Malayalam classic psycho-thriller film, `Manichitrathazhu` starring Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Shobhana. This film was also remade in Kannada named `Aaptamitra` starring Vishnuvardhan in the year 2004. In Tamil and Telugu the film was named as `Chandramukhi` starring Rajnikanth in 2005. The film features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Amisha Patel and Shiny Ahuja in lead roles with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in supporting roles.

Vidya Balan is the female lead actress in the movie. In the Malayalam original, Shobhana played the main role. Shovana`s performance won her a National Award for the Best Actress. In the Kannada version `Apthamitra`, Soundarya played the role. She was one of the top South Indian actresses. `Apthamitra` was her last film before she meets a plain accident during the election campaign. Even in some parts her voice is dubbed by someone else. Soundarya won the Best Actress award in the Filmfare Awards 2004 for the role which she played in the movie `Apthamitra`. In the Tamil version `Chandramukhi`, Jyothika put on the role. She was also awarded best actress by Tamil nadu Government. The film got released on October 12, 2007

Synopsis of the Indian Movie `Bhool Bhulaiya`
The Indian movie `Bhool Bhulaiya` is a psycho thriller, which can be fitted in earlier day`s world. The story of the film focuses on a village or town where the people are very superstitious. Badri played by Manoj Joshi is the head of a Brahmin family whose ancestral house is believed to be possessed by a ghost or spirit of Bengali dancer Manjulika. One day, the younger raja Siddharth played by Shiney Ahuja and Avni played by Vidya Balan return to their village from America. Though Badri`s adopted daughter Radha played by Amisha Patel was willing to marry Siddharth but when Avani comes with him she backs out from Siddharth`s life. Siddarth and Avani eventually decide to reside in the ancestral house for a month or so. Here, Siddharth is crowned as the king and so his wife as a queen.

They were enjoying the village life but all of a sudden everything has changed after Avani opens a locked room in upstairs. She does this with the help of her sister-in-law Nandini. She is one of Siddarth`s cousins. Just after this incident different events start taking place in and around the palace. Avani falls in love with the place. She also starts learning about Manjulika and the past history of her. Subsequently all the family members come to the palace and start living there. Badri and his brother-in-law Batuk Shankar played by Paresh Rawal try to avoid the evil eye of the spirit. They decide to arrange a priest. But their priest has gone to abroad and it is unknown to all when he will be back. Siddharth suspects Radha for the unnatural things in the place. He thinks that Radha is suffering from mental problem as he has rejected her and has married Avani. Siddharth called one of his friends. He is a psychologist, Aditya Shrivastav played by Akshay Kumar.

He comes to the palace to find out the actual problem with Radha. But when he reaches the palace he gets the feeling of something else. He tries to portray him as a comical character just to hide the truth from others. He also tries to solve the problem analytically. Very soon he realized that Radha is not the culprit and everything is created by someone else in the palace. On the engagement day of Nandini, Avni spills some food on the groom Sharad Pradhan played by Vineeth. She takes him outside to clean the dirt. Aditya at once notices that Avani is not there in the party. He and Siddharth try to find her and get them under a tree. Sharad and Avani are struggling. They reach there and take them away. Siddharth misunderstand the thing starts thinking that Sharad has tried to molest Avani. Aditya tells Siddharth that actually Avani does the mistake. He also mentioned that Avani is suffering from Dissociative identity disorder. This is a disease that create problem to the person`s identity. Aditya goes to Avani`s village and learns about her past. He learns that Avani had some problematic childhood and she used to think everything in a different way.

Aditya tries to solve the problem and comes out with a plan of bringing out Manjulika`s identity out of Avani. Aditya and Siddharth see Avani dancing in Manjulika`s style. She and her boyfriend used to dance before the king prior he killed them brutally. There is a sad story inside the palace. The story is of a king who hired a dancer Manjulika. He loved her, who, in turn, loved someone else by the name of Shashidhar. Shashidhar was her co-dancer in the court. Raja was in love with the dancer and so he could not tolerate Manjulika`s love story and killed Shashidhar out of jealousy. This triggered Avni`s disorder. Avani assumes the identicalness of Manjulika within her and also tries to kill Siddharth, as she sees in him the old king who killed Manjulika`s lover.

Aditya tries a plan to cure Avani`s illness. He triggers Manjulika`s personality by creating the dance shows in front of the king. Aditya makes her promise to leave Avani`s body. But Manjulika`s condition is that she wants to kill the king who killed her boyfriend. Manjulika is tricked during the function. She slays a replica of Siddharth and thinks that she killed him. After this incident Manjulika`s personality leaves Avani for good. Aditya mesmerizes the unconscious mind of Avani. He tells her that all are good and she should be a happy person now. Avani becomes normal. Aditya proposes Radha to marry him as Aditya thinks that she could be a nice partner. Siddharth and Avani live happily afterwards.

The lead roles in the film are played by Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Amisha Patel, Shiney Ahuja, Vineeth, etc. The film is directed by Priyadarshan while it is produced by Neeraj Vora and Madhu Muttam. The music is given by Pritam and Ranjit Barot, cinematography is by S. Thiru, the film is distributed worldwide by Eros International.
