He did his schooling from St.Xavier`s School, Ranchi and later completed his studies at the Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. After completing his acting course he shifted to the tinsel town. Driven by the passion of acting since a very tender age he got attracted to the art of stage performance and then joined Barry Johns Acting School in the capital of the Indian subcontinent, the institute which became renowned all over the nation after giving birth to one of the superstars of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. Ahuja is married to Anupam Ahuja and they have a daughter named Arshiya who was born on 2007.

Shiney made his debut in the glamour world with the aid of some commercials. Following that he made his appearance in a music video for Stereo Nation, which is a British Asian band. Awards and Honours to Shiny Ahuja
Shiny has also been rewarded with many honours and the main ones include the Zee Cine, IIFA and Stardust Best Debut Award for his role in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. He also got the Most Promising Newcomer Male Award. In 2007 IIFA Awards Shiny received the Best Actor (Critics) Award for Gangster and also the Society Young Achiever`s Award for the same. The Kalakar Awards bestowed on him the Best Actor Award for the movie Khoya Khoya Chand.
