Early Life of Sunny Deol
Sunny Deol was born as Ajay Singh Deol on October 19, 1956 in New Delhi. Sunny Deol was born to veteran actor Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. His younger brother is also a famous Bollywood actor, Bobby Deol whereas the well known actor Abhay Deol is his cousin. He has two half-sisters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, from his father`s re-marriage to famous actress Hema Malini. He was very much keen for acting from his childhood and to fulfil his wish he went to England to study acting. He joined a theatre called the Old Web Theatre in Birmingham, England where he studied theatre and acting.

Career of Sunny Deol
Sunny Deol made his acting debut in the blockbuster movie Betaab in 1983. This was a huge hit with debutant artist Amrita Singh. Subsequently after a few unsuccessful ventures he starred in an action film Arjun in 1985. He played the role of a jobless youth who is forced to become a gangster by circumstances. This role established his image as the action hero of Bollywood. Sunny`s breakthrough role came with Ghayal in the year 1990 directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. His role of a boxer who fights for his family received craze among the youths and he became the role model for the younger generation. He starred in another film of Rajkumar Santoshi called Damini for which the Government of India awarded him a National Film Award for portraying the role of a lawyer. He also had success in romantic and dramatic roles in films like Chaalbaaz, Darr, Jeet and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Ghayal, the Filmfare Award winner movie, and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha remains his most successful films to date at the box office.

Sunny Deol has also been quite successful in comedy. He starred in the multi-starrer action comedy Fool and Final with Shahid Kapoor and Ayesha Takia. In his film Apne he worked with Dharmendra and Bobby Deol together. He also directed a film named Dillagi where he also acted with his brother Bobby Deol. The film however could not achieve much success. Sunny Deol has also been very famous in patriotic movies, "Border" is noteworthy among them. He has his unique style of performing varied roles. His other movies include Yamla Pagla Deewana, Singh Saab the Great, Right Yaaa Wrong, Heroes and many others. As a producer, his films include Indian, Socha Na Tha, Chamku, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and a few others.

Achievements of Sunny Deol
Sunny Deol has won a number of awards in his acting career. He won the National Film Awards in 1991 and 1993. He won Filmfare Awards for movies Ghayal and Damini. For the movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha he won the Zee Cine Awards for his outstanding performance. This film also earned him Star Screen Award as best actor and Sansui Viewer`s Choice Movie Award in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

Sunny Deol is married to Pooja and has two sons Rajvir and Karan.
