He has established himself as one of the leading actor of contemporary times. Although he had a keen interest in this industry since a small age, he chose to complete his education before stepping into this arena. He entered in the world of Bollywood with his debut movie `Socha Na Tha` in the year 2005, directed by Imtiaz Ali. He earned huge accolades and critical acclamations for his performance and in the very first movie he was recognized as promising. After this he appeared in a number of movies and received positive reviews and appreciations. In the later years Abhay Deol had been described as an actor who is gaining constant command in complex characters.

Career of Abhay Deol
Abhay Deol marked his presence in the Indian film industry with his first film `Socha Na Tha`. His second movie was `Ahista Ahista` which was released Abhay Deol in the year 2006. In the year 2007, his movies included `Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd`, which is a multi-star cast movie and gained box office success, `Ek Chalis Ki Last Local` and `Manorama Six Feet Under`. His film `Manorama Six Feet Under` was awarded with the Best Film award at the Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival in New York City. Abhay Deol also won the award for Best Actor for his performance in the same movie. His career took a flight in the year 2008 with his movie `Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!` which earned huge popularity. In 2009, he enacted in the movie `Dev.D`. The movie received a perfect review of 5 out of 5 starts by Nikhat Kazmi who is the critic for Times of India. This versatile actor has been the cover of Time Out Mumbai and Man`s World and got the titles `the New Face of Indian Cinema`. In the year 2009, he was ranked seventh on Zoom`s "50 Most Desirable Hotties" poll. He has also worked in `Road, Movie` along with Tannishtha Chatterjee. He has also begun production of films through his company Forbidden Films. `Basra` was the first film under his company and he had learnt the Israeli martial art Krav Maga for the same. In the movie `Tera Kya Hoga Johnny`, Abhay Deol did a special item number in the year 2010. He took training for deep-sea diving for his movie `Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara`, 2011, which was shot in Spain. He was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor and IIFA Award for Best Supporting Actor for this movie. Abhay Deol also worked as a play back singer in the same movie for the song `Senorita`.

Personal Life of Abhay Deol
Abhay Deol was born to a Punjabi Sikh family on 15 March 1976. His parents are Ajit Singh Deol and Usha Deol. His family is associated with Bollywood since long. He is the nephew of renowned actor Dharmendra and the cousin of Esha Deol, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. Since his school days he was involved in theatre.
