Baspa valley is a river valley, which has been named after Baspa River. The valley lies in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. This valley is also known as Sangla valley as Sangla town is located near to this valley. Apart from Sangla, some other neighboring villages of Baspa valley are Chitkul, Karchham, Batseri and Kamru. The valley offers numerous trekking trails to its neighbor valleys like Jalandrigad valley via Lamkhaga pass, Har ki dun valley via Borasu pass, Sangla to Netwar via Rupin pass and Pabbar valley via Buran pass.
Dam on Baspa River
A hydroelectric power of 300MW has been planted on Baspa River at Karcham. The dam of the project is located at Kuppa and the project is operational since May 2003. Baspa River is a tributary to the Sutlej River. The water of the Baspa River is mainly originated from glacier and snowmelt.
Visiting Information to Baspa Valley
The best way to reach Baspa valley is via Sangla. Shimla Airport and Kalka Railway Station are nearest to Kinnaur district. From there one has to reach Sangla by bus; direct buses are available regularly.
