Asan River is the stream fed river of Dehradun District of Uttarakhand, flows into Yamuna River in the Jaunsar Bawar Region at Kalsi.
There are several streams joined in the Asan River. Near Robber`s Cave in Uttarakhand, Asan River formed a U Shaped valley meandering slightly in a south-westerly direction.
Asan River flows through Bijapur canal. This major water pumping site of Dehradun provides water to residential area of Dehra Dun District which is located in the western part of the town.
Then Asan River moves to Tapkeshwar Mahadeva Temple of Uttarkhand, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. There the river becomes shallow in the broad valley of Premnagar. Asan River proceeds towards south-west direction, receiving the waters of several streams flowing southward from the northern range spanning Vikas Nagar of Mussoorie and northward from the lower Shiwalik forest hills. It separate Doon Valley from Saharanpur District. Asan River has been identified with the Asmanvati of the Rig Veda era that is in the time of Early Vedic Period.
