98th Indian Infantry Brigade

The 98th Indian Infantry Brigade was a former armed infantry formation that operated under the British Indian Army during the Second World War. The brigade remained in active service from 1942 to 1945. It was raised at Bareilly district in the state of Uttar Pradesh under the British Empire in India in April 1941. The armed force operated under the command of 3 separate Indian Infantry Divisions during its service in Burma. The 98th Indian Infantry Brigade was initially attached to the 34th Indian Infantry Division from October 1941 to January 1942.

Later it was assigned to the 25th Indian Infantry Division from January 1942 to March 1942 and was eventually allotted to the 19th Indian Infantry Division in March 1942. The infantry brigade served under the 19th Division until the end of World War II. The troops took part in a number of British battles and campaigns and also fought in the Burma Champaign in the South East Asian Theatre of the Second World War. Brigadier C. I. Jerrard was one of the most noted Commanding Officers of the army formation.
