 The state of Andhra Pradesh is located in the southern part of India. Visakhapatnam Airport Visakhapatnam International Airport is located approximately 12 km (7.5 mi) from Visakhapatnam. This customs airport has the distinction of being the largest and busiest airport of Andhra Pradesh. This airport is owned by the Indian Navy and operated by the Airports Authority of India and the Indian Navy. Development of this airport has taken place in terms of construction of a new terminal and runway and operation of international flights to Dubai, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Kadapa Airport  Kadapa Airport is located about 12 km north-west of Kadapa. This airport is operated by Airports Authority of India and occupies about 669.5 acres (270.9 ha) of land. It takes care of the transportation needs of the people of Kadapa and was constructed in 1953. The terminal building of this airport can accommodate 100 peak hour passengers at a time. Its apron has the potential to handle 3 ATR-72 type of aircrafts.
Rajahmundry Airport Rajahmundry Airport is located in Madhurapudi, about 18 kilometers (11 mi) north of Rajahmundry. This public airport is operated by Airports Authority of India and is spread over an area of about 366 acres (148 ha). This airport takes care of the transportation needs of the people of Rajahmundry. Tirupati Airport Tirupati Airport is situated in Renigunta, a suburb of Tirupati. Operated by the Airports Authority of India, this airport was established in the year 1976. The upgraded airport was opened in the year 1999 by the then Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This airport was provided with a new integrated terminal known as the Garuda Terminal, besides the existing domestic terminal. This terminal can accommodate about 500 domestic and about 200 international passengers at a time. Vijayawada Airport Operated by the Airports Authority of India, Vijayawada Airport is located in Vijayawada. This airport covers an area of about 537 acres (217 ha). The parking bays of this airport can accommodate 4 ATR 72/Bombardier Q400 and 1boeing 737/Airbus A320. Sri Sathya Sai Airport Sri Sathya Sai Airport is located in Puttaparthi and was inaugurated on 2th of November, 1990. This private airport was established to serve a super specialty hospital during emergencies. |
